'Sean Saves The World' Canceled: NBC Halts Production On Low-Rated Comedy

See Ya, 'Sean Saves The World'

It looks like the end of the road for Sean Hayes' big return to NBC. The network has halted production on the low-rated "Sean Saves the World" with four episodes left in its order. In its latest outing, the fledgling sitcom scored a paltry 0.7 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic with only 2.6 million total viewers.

While the network hasn't officially canceled the show, it has essentially done so. The official announcement of its cancellation probably won't come until the annual upfronts in May. With production halted, "Sean" has completed 15 of 19 episodes, with 13 having already aired. The show wasn't scheduled to return until after the Olympics anyway, but now it remains to be seen if and when those final two episodes might air.

Of course, the next logical question is, what about "The Michael J. Fox Show"? Another star-vehicle, "Fox" hasn't fared any better in the ratings. The only difference is that NBC gave it a 22-episode commitment right out of the gate.

For now, "Sean Saves the World" is anticipated to return on Thursday, February 27 at 9 p.m. EST on NBC, after the Winter Olympics.
