On the steps of the state capitol, former U.S. Senate candidate Ken Lewis threw his enthusiastic and full support behind Secretary of State Elaine Marshall in the North Carolina Senate race. Ken placed third in the May primary and his endorsement gives Elaine every bit of momentum going toward the June 22nd runoff.

"Elaine's work as Secretary of State and her historic electoral victories make her the strongest candidate in this run-off and in the general election. On the campaign trail she is tough, smart, and one of the hardest working candidates I've ever seen."

-- Ken Lewis

This endorsement is HUGE for Elaine as our campaign begins firing up our field efforts to finish off the runoff and start focusing on Burr. Ken is seen as a rising star in North Carolina politics and shocked all the pundits with his impressive showing in the primary. His endorsement gives our campaign a huge boost across the state, especially in Durham.

Ken's endorsement comes off the heels of another HUGE endorsement from former Congresswoman Eva Clayton, previously a supporter of Ken's. Her endorsement is a sign that Elaine is uniting local Democrats.

"Elaine Marshall has built a career standing up for people. Over and over, she's taken on powerful interests against long odds and won. That's the type of fighter North Carolina needs to represent us in Washington today."

-- Eva Clayton
