Very few events of this magnitude happen in the skeptic and atheist communities. Sure, there is the always-awesome American Atheist Convention, which brings out the who's who of the movement, and great events like Skepitcon and the American Humanist Conference draw great crowds, but one event is really standing out in 2014.

That event is Apostacon, a yearly event that features some of the world's biggest names in atheism, science and skepticism, and this year they have one of the biggest, the host of Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Tyson will be speaking at a special event, "An Evening of Scientific Inquiry." And if Tyson is not enough for you, famed theoretical physicist and author of A Universe From Nothing, Lawrence Krauss, will be the event's keynote speaker.

Apostacon will take place Sept. 19 to 21 in Omaha, Nebraska. Not only will the event feature the likes of Tyson and Krauss but the organizers also announced workshops being held on Friday, Sept. 19.

These workshops will range from how to write about activism and get published to how to manage social media and a range of activist-related hands-on workshops for those who are eager to get active in the movement.

Attendees can expect a wide range of topics to be discussed, from dealing with death to finding support for yourself or others who are leaving religion and feel they don't have a place to go, and some talks are just fun or inspirational talks about activism and the work being accomplished around the world.

Attendees will be able to shop for books, apparel and accessories from the show's vendors and sponsors as well, making this a one-stop shop for atheists, skeptics and the like.

This is one event you will not want to miss out on this year. With the number of conferences growing year after year, making them all becomes harder and harder, but of all the ones to make sure you attend, Apostacon is one of them.
