Netflix's Most Popular Plan Just Got A Little More Expensive

That'll be an extra dollar per month, guys.

Netflix is raising the price of its most popular streaming plan.

The company will charge new users $9.99 to sign up for its standard service, which allows for two devices to stream simultaneously via the same Netflix account, Bloomberg first reported on Thursday and The Huffington Post later confirmed. Previously, that subscription was $8.99 for new users.

For now, the price hike will affect only new customers in the U.S., Canada and parts of Latin America. Existing customers won't be charged the new rate until next October, and prices for other plans won't be affected at all. *Collective sigh.*

If this news sounds familiar, it's because in May 2014 subscription prices rose from $7.99 to $8.99 for new members.

So, why is it happening again? Netflix is trying to offer more original programming -- at a cost of billions, Bloomberg reports. If you like "Orange Is the New Black," "BoJack Horseman," "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp" or any of the company's dozens of original shows, try not to complain too much.
