Dutch Doctors Urge Lawmakers To Extend Euthanasia Law To Children

Doctors of the Dutch Paediatric Association are calling on lawmakers in the Netherlands to consider extending the country's euthanasia law to terminally ill children in unbearable suffering.

Eduard Verhagen, a professor of pediatrics at Groningen University in the Netherlands and a member of the ethics commission at the Dutch Paediatric Association, joined HuffPostLive on Monday to explain why some doctors in the country are calling for a removal of the age restriction in the country's current euthanasia law.

If the Netherlands passes the change in the law, the country would become the second after Belgium to allow euthanasia for some terminally ill children.
