Footage of a Nevada teen's impassioned gay marriage plea is making the blogosphere rounds.
As Towleroad reports, 18-year-old Riley Roberts defended his two moms in the poignant, teary speech, delivered before the Nevada Assembly on May 23 before it voted 27-14 in favor of a resolution advancing efforts to remove the state's ban on same-sex marriage.
Roberts notes, "I was born in Nevada 18 years ago and guess who was there? My mom Pamela Roberts and Gretchen Miller, my loving parents. And who was there to watch me take my first steps? Pamela Roberts and Gretchen Miller."
Before acknowledging same-sex marriage opponents, he then adds, "They have been with me on my journey through life and they have supported me through everything ... they are denied the rights, the freedoms and the ability to be a full and equal citizen of the United States of America in this great state of Nevada."
Children of same-sex parents have had an increasing presence in the national fight for same-sex marriage. In 2011, footage of 19-year-old student Zach Wahls defending same-sex marriage before the Iowa House of Representatives became YouTube's most-watched political clip after going viral in the blogsophere twice.
Earlier this year, 12-year-old student Matthew Lannon stunned the Rhode Island Senate judiciary committee with a profound marriage equality speech.
Lannon, who said he has two moms and two dads who had been together for 14 years, told the crowd, "My parents, and all the other gay and lesbian people here, just want to be happy."
