New Candy Hearts Are A Sign Of Our Crumbling Civilization

Valentine's Day is almost upon us, and that means it's candy heart time.

And the only constant in candy heart land is change. NECCO has updated its list of phrases that can be found on those chalky romance enablers.

As the New York Daily News reports, gone are "tweet" and "occupy my heart" and in their place are "BFF," "Luv 2 Dance" and a mustache emoji, among others.

Goodbye, reference to a social movement that called for a more just, equitable and prosperous society, hello demonic smiley face.

A call to a NECCO spokesperson to discuss this editorial decision was not immediately returned.

But it is important to note that the company is just trying to keep up with the times, or at least, that's what NECCO social media specialist Mary Lane told the Daily News.

"We have to evaluate what’s modern, what’s hot, how people are actually communicating,” Lane said.

These hearts are a reactive force, not a driving force behind the rapid decline of our society.

The kids today don't care about holding financial mega-firms accountable for their bad behavior, they just want "2 Dance."

"We want to see how many ways we can say ‘I love you,’” Lane told the Daily News.

In 2015, a mustache emoji means "I love you."

We mustache emoji you, humanity.
