If you have been to The Last Bookstore on 5th and Main Street, you have seen the creative, fantastical assemblage sculptures created by one of LA's most important artists.
Words often used to describe award-winning artist David Lovejoy, include resourceful, conceptual, witty, expert craftsman, sculptural, true, re-purposer of timeworn objects.
These are again verified by his dynamic new exhibit at the downtown Los Angeles, Broadway Arts Building opening Saturday, June 7. Here his work greets visitors with a lyrical wall design and a unique reinterpretation of a classic chandelier in the lobby. (The chandelier, a construction of heavy old trunk casings, unusual optics and of course light, is suspended by heavy ropes in strategic balance.) Beyond the impactful greeting lies a rich showing of David's most recent assemblage and dimensional works.
Viewing starts at 4p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014.
