Zooey Deschanel Does Her Best Trump Impression On 'New Girl'

Just in time for National Voter Registration Day.

The latest episode of “New Girl” airs Tuesday night, and we already know it’s going to be huuuuuuge.

The second episode in Season 6 will take on the 2016 presidential election, with Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Cece (Hannah Simone) hitting the campaign trail in support of Hillary Clinton.

At one point, Jess even does her best Donald Trump impression, seemingly as a way to sway people not to vote for the reality-TV-star-turned-politician. Judging by the episode’s promo and the photo below, we’d say she nailed it.

In a new clip for the episode shared by Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday, Jess and Cece talk politics with Schmidt (Max Greenfield), who presents a challenge to the women: If they can get five new voters, he’ll vote for Hillary, and if they lose, they have to vote for Winston (Lamorne Morris).

Jess, not one to back down from a challenge, willfully accepts, telling her well-coiffed roommate, “Game on, you Republican minx!”

“New Girl” creator Liz Meriwether spoke to EW about the premiere episode, telling the site that “you have to be a little bit careful” when tackling politics on a comedic show.

“I do think that one of the great things about sitcoms is that they can take on big issues within a small, funny way, which is, I think, what we’ve tried to do on this show when we’ve dipped our toe into things like this in the past,” she said. “I definitely hope [the episode] adds to the conversation. When you can laugh about something, sometimes it opens you up to listen to something.”

“New Girl” premieres Sept. 27 at 8:30 p.m. ET on Fox.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this post incorrectly stated that “New Girl” premieres on Sept. 27, but in fact, it premiered on Sept. 20.
