If you're anything like me, you're tired of hearing doom and gloom stories about the economy. That is why when we discovered, Sara Lopez I got excited. Sara Lopez, is a New Media Star. What is that, you may ask? A New Media Star is a new breed of celebrity that has popped up since the popularity of Social Media websites such as Youtube, Facebook and Twitter has skyrocketed. They are individuals who have created their own brand of fame without the help of traditional film, television or radio outlets. And they have carved themselves out a comfortable, sometimes even affluent living. Such as the case with Sara Lopez, a bundle of bubbly energy and infectious personality that identifies her as definitely "Someone to Watch".
Life wasn't always easy for Lopez, however. She, at one point was jobless. But never one to let the world get her down, Lopez knew there had to be a way to marry her two passions, "people" and "social media marketing" into a way to somehow make a living.
After hearing about an opportunity at 8th Continent Soymilk, Lopez created her own video, highlighting her bubbly personality and social media expertise. She anxiously waited by the phone, feeling no doubt the uncertainity many of today's unemployed feel, praying every day she would get "the" phone. And then it did. 8th Continent asked her to be their New Media spokesperson.
As Lopez explains in the video it has turned out to be the job of a lifetime. She has to be the girl with the coolest job in the world.
Lopez is an example of someone who has been able to harness her love and her passion into a living and is a perfect example that as corny as it may sound, dreams do come true.
