Democrat Gary King will challenge Susana Martinez in the New Mexico gubernatorial race, the Associated Press reports.

King, the state's attorney general, bested a field of four other Democrats in Tuesday's primary including Howie Morales, Lawrence Rael, Alan Webber and Linda Lopez.

Martinez, who was first elected governor in 2010, was uncontested in the Republican primary.
