Does Your Porn Feature Condoms? It May Affect Your HIV Risk

In a new study researchers found that men who watched more porn with condoms had .62 times the odds of having unprotected sex while those who watched more porn without condoms had 1.25 times the odds of having unprotected sex.

A Story of Thirteen Counties and Better HIV Stats

Researchers estimated the total population of men who have sex with men (MSM) by extrapolating from the number of male-male households in the American Community Survey. This new data will be helpful in determining local HIV transmission rates. Interestingly, they also found over 25 percent of the MSM population lived in only 13 counties across the country.

Smoking Disparity Widened Among Bi Teens

Researchers looking at Minnesota high schoolers found that between 1998 and 2010 the rate of smoking declined less among bi teens than others, meaning the smoking disparity for bi teens actually got worse in this time.

Gulf Coast’s First Shelter for Homeless LGBT Youth Opens

Diversity House, a homeless shelter for LGBTQ youth in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is the first of its kind on the Gulf Coast. The program currently houses five youths aged 16 to 21, with plans to expand to a total of ten. Interventions like this help reduce youth health disparities across their lifespan.
