We, of all people, love an opportunity to get glammed up (the way our grandparents did back in the day), but as a survey by wine brand Barefoot Bubbly reveals, doing so on New Year's Eve may be overrated.

According to their poll of 1,000 adults, 66 percent of Americans plan on celebrating New Year's Eve this year, but 54 percent of those plan on doing so at home.

The consensus, which appears to be based on revelers' experiences going out on New Year's eve previous years, is that the festivities rarely live up to their expectations.

Check out more of the survey findings in the infographic below. And tell us: Going out or staying in? Which will you be doing this New Year's Eve?
