The Empire State of Public Art

There is currently a plethora of powerful public art statements punctuating New York City. I don't recollect there ever being quite so many artworks sprouting up in the dense urban summer.

There is currently a plethora of powerful public art statements punctuating New York City. I don't recollect there ever being quite so many artworks sprouting up in the dense urban summer -- perfect timing for pedestrians and visitors alike to view the huge spectrum of work out there. Concurrently what this season brings is a group of whip smart and dedicated interns to Art Production Fund. I sent them out on a pilgrimage to document the spectrum of gritty, sophisticated, accessible and at times invisible art within the spaces we all share. Here is what they came up with:
