The last time the New York Red Bulls hosted New York F.C. the home team destroyed their star laden visitors 7-0. While the score wasn't as lopsided this time, once the first goal went in, there was no doubt over the eventual winners.

Bradley Wright-Phillips showed that he absolutely meant business...
...breaking the deadlock in the 20th minute.
3 minutes later Ronald Zubar headed in the 2nd from a corner
NYC FC attempted to get back into the game, but were unable to put the ball close to the back of the net.

Immediately from the kickoff a long range attempt from Thomas McNamara found the back of the net, and made the score 3-1
In the second half there was some back and forth between the two teams,
With Josh Saunders in the NYC FC goal making several saves to prevent a 4th goal.
The Red Bulls poked and prodded, but were unable to further extend their lead
...until finally Bradley Wright-Phillips broke through...
...rounded the keeper...
...and put the ball in the back of the net to make it 4-1
After that, there was some back and forth, but no more goals
...although FC did have to clear one shot off the line
In the 89th minute FC's Ethan White received a straight red card, to drop his team down to 10 players.
...which meant that there was absolutely no way for them to get back into the game. So the Red Bulls ended the game as 4 - 1 victors.
