Best Books Of 2012? Seriously?

The New York Times has announced its Top Ten Books of 2012, selected by the editors of The New York Times Book Review (to be published in December 9th's Sunday Book Review), and the list is... pretty dull.

Other than Chris Ware's Building Stories and Katherine Boo's Behind the Beautiful Forevers, there's little to suggest that literature has moved on much since the 1960s.

Three women out of ten. One person of color. Books about the achievements of Great White Men (preferably Kings, presidents or Kennedys.) A book about classical philosophy.
