Northside Festival Opening Concert: Of Montreal and Beach Fossils

Northside Festival has officially started, making North Brooklyn the epicenter of cultural to-do's for the next week. Celebrate Brooklyn: Geri Allen & Carrie Mae Weems with Esperanza Spalding
Where: Prospect Park Bandshell, Prospect Park West and 9th Street, Brooklyn

Hop over to Prospect Park on Friday where Grammy-award winning Esperanza Spalding will lend her talents to Geri Allen and Carrie Mae Weem's "Slow Fade to Black" performance at the Bandshell.

Danny's Funhouse

Danny Jolles brings out a cast of his favorite bands (including Frog!) and fellow comedians for an evening of improv at The PIT.

Atlantic Avenue Extravaganza
Where: Atlantic Avenue from the BQE to 4th Avenue, Brooklyn

Price: Free
Stroll up and down Atlantic Avenue this Saturday for the first-ever Atlantic Avenue Extravaganza, where some of the neighborhood's favorite businesses will be offering tastings, demonstrations, and special sales. Plus, performances by Lava, The Brooklyn Steppers, and Underground Horns.

Jazz Age Lawn Party
Where: Governor's Island
When: Saturday-Sunday, 11AM-5PM
Price: $15
Governor's Island gets a Gatsby-eque makeover for one of the city's favorite theme fetes, which will include a roaring jazz band, wooden dance floor, old fashioned delectables, vintage clothing dealers, picnicking, and much more.

Rockabus to the Rockaways
Where: Williamsburg (Union and Meeker Avenues) to Rockaway Beach
When: Saturday-Sunday
Price: Free (only this weekend)
Sick of hauling to the Rockaways via subway just to pack in some beach time? The newly launched Rockabus is here to help with a service to ship bus loads of hipsters from Williamsburg to the beach. And for its first weekend, beachgoers get a free ride!

Father's Day Fish Fry
Where: Beer Table, 427 7th Avenue, Brooklyn; (718) 965-1196
When: Sunday, 11AM-6PM
Price: $12 per fish box
Celebrate dads with some good, old fish frying at Beer Table, where the bar will be working all day to serve boxes of fried catfish, hush puppies, and cole slaw.
