Newark Cop Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Woman On Police Property

The suspect allegedly told his victim she'd get favorable treatment if she gave him oral sex.

A police detective in Newark, New Jersey, is facing charges after allegedly forcing a woman to perform oral sex.

Kenneth Gaulette, 33, was arrested and charged with sexual assault and criminal coercion on Wednesday stemming from an incident last November, according to a release from the Essex County District Attorney's Office.

On Nov. 29, Gaulette allegedly forced a 40-year-old woman to perform oral sex on him while on police property in Newark.

Gaulette has been charged with second-degree sexual assault and fourth-degree criminal coercion. He allegedly told his victim she would receive favorable treatment from law enforcement if she performed the sex act.

He has been a police officer for nine years beginning with the Newark Police Department.

In 2010, he was laid off before being hired back in 2012.

Gaulette turned himself with his lawyer and released after posting $75,000 in bail, according to the release.
