Newt Gingrich Just Called Mitt Romney A Suck-Up

... but says he'll be all for Romney if that's what Trump wants.

Speculation among Republican insiders over who will serve in Donald Trump’s Cabinet is starting to turn into “Mean Girls.”

On Wednesday, Newt Gingrich called possible secretary of State nominee Mitt Romney a suck-up.

Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, was once fiercely critical of Trump, but he offered nothing but praise for him after the two met for dinner in New York on Tuesday night.

But Gingrich was having none of it.

“There’s a scene in ‘Pretty Woman’ where Richard Gere goes up to the salesman on Rodeo Drive and says, ‘We need a little sucking up here,’” Gingrich told conservative talk-show host Laura Ingraham. “You have never, ever in your career seen a serious adult who’s wealthy, independent, has been a presidential nominee, suck up at the rate that Mitt Romney is sucking up.”

The former speaker of the House and Ingraham, who is under consideration for White House press secretary, then proceeded to crack jokes about the fancy meal at French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s restaurant at the Trump International Hotel and Tower.

After all that, Gingrich said he would support Romney if he is selected to be secretary of State.

Gingrich served as a Trump surrogate during the campaign and was under consideration for the vice president’s slot, which eventually went to Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

However, since Trump’s victory, Gingrich has said he will not take a Cabinet position with the incoming administration.
