On Monday night, singer and actor Tyrese posted a meme on Instagram asking for “men only” to give relationship advice to women in the comments. Although the post garnered over 3,000 comments, the stand out response came from R&B singer Ne-Yo.
Among gems like “Listen to your man and respect him,” and “Stop chasing money, start chasing love,” came Ne-Yo, the voice of reason:
“Don’t listen to any of our advice,” the singer commented. “Do what you want.”
Tyrese has come under fire for sharing his unsolicited views about women in the past. In addition to writing an entire self-help book for women called Manology, the “Fast and the Furious” star often uses social media to share his tone-deaf advice to women. In April, he faced backlash after a BET interview in which he railed against “sluts, skeezers, hoes, tramps and overly aggressive, promiscuous women.”
Needless to say, he’s the last person who needs to be doling out advice to the ladies. Thank you, Ne-Yo. Thank you.
