Nia Vardalos Books 'SVU' Role

Nia Vardalos will guest star on an upcoming episode of "Law & Order: SVU." The "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" star will appear in "Criminal Hatred," the Wednesday, Jan. 30 episode on NBC at 9 p.m. EST.

According to NBC, Vardalos will play Counselor Minonna Efron, whose client is on trial for assault and murder. Vardalos' character is described as "disorganized," which makes D.A. Barba (recurring guest star Raul Esparza) think he's got an easy win, but the character winds up thrwarting him at every turn.

“The Young and The Restless” star Victoria Rowell also guest stars and Fred Norris makes a cameo appearance.

Marcia Gay Harden will return as FBI Agent Dana Lewis in "Secrets Exhumed," the February 6 episodes of "SVU." Agent Lewis partners with the SVU when she suspects a rape-murder case is connected to several cases across the country. "Lost" actor Harold Perrineau will also guest star in the same episode as career criminal Brian Traymor. "Last Resort" actor Jay Karnes also guest stars. This is Harden's fourth time returning to "SVU."
