Nicholas Kirkwood: Kate Middleton's Shoes Aren't 'Princess-y' Enough (PHOTOS)

Are Kate Middleton's Shoes 'Princess-y' Enough?

The great debate as to whether Kate Middleton is a style icon continues, and this time it's hitting right to Kate's sole.

Young shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood decided to weigh in on the Duchess' style controversy, laying a blow at Kate's beloved LK Bennett shoes.

"She just wears too much High Street stuff. I know she’s trying to be democratic, but I don’t know how many pairs of LK Bennett you can wear. She does occasionally come out and is wearing McQueen or something like that. It’s like, ‘Do that more! You’re meant to be a princess-y type of person, so act like one!'"

Sure, Kate could wear Louboutins all day if she wanted to, but somehow we don't think that's Kate's style. Perhaps there are hard feelings, considering Kate has yet to don a pair of the very avant garde shoes Kirkwood is known for.

And while Kirkwood may not be a fan of Kate's style, he does have a fondness for Queen Elizabeth; he'll be producing a shoe in honor of the Queen's diamond jubilee in June.
