Nick Carter: Justin Timberlake Shouldn't Decide When NSYNC Gets To Reunite

Nick Carter: NSYNC Can Get Back Together Without Justin Timberlake

Nick Carter doesn't think NSYNC is done forever, but he expects the group would have to shrink to four if they wanted to reunite.

When Carter and New Kids On The Block's Jordan Knight joined HuffPost Live's Caitlyn Becker to discuss their new album as the duo Nick & Knight, the Backstreet Boys star said NSYNC shouldn't let Justin Timberlake dictate when the group performs.

"I think they still can get back together. I believe they, even without Justin, could go out and do it, and maybe [I] would like to see that happen. I feel it's unfortunate that one person should determine [whether they reunite]. It shouldn't be that way," Carter said.

The last time NSYNC performed together was at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, which honored Timberlake with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The performance was on Timberlake's terms, leading to reports that the rest of the group was "upset" that Timberlake scaled down NSYNC's involvement in his set.

Carter also took time to set the record straight about his recent tiff with Joey Fatone. A little backstory: Fatone visited HuffPost Live on April 17 and said the Backstreet Boys were still touring because "they just need the money." The next day, Carter tweeted his displeased reaction:

Just disappointed, I really liked joey... http://t.co/oSj3b0eWkF

I'm proud of who we are and love what we stand for. Truthfully its about not letting our fans down. Sorry bro but you have us all wrong.

Fans worried a full-fledged boy-band battle could be on the horizon, but not to worry -- Carter said he and Fatone cleared the air.

"We talked afterwards, and yes, I made my point and got that across, and he understood it because at the end of the day, we are protective over what we do and our fans," Carter told HuffPost Live. "Our fans are loyal to us and we are loyal to them."
