Phone Hacking Reporter: 'I Have No Respect For Piers Morgan'

Nick Davies, author of Hack Attack, an inside look at the News of The World phone-hacking scandal, joined HuffPost Live on Monday to discuss his new book and Rupert Murdoch's media empire.

The conversation turned to the controversial former News of the World editor Piers Morgan, who Davies believes played a role in the deterioration of British journalism.

"I have no respect for Piers Morgan," Davies told host Josh Zepps. "I think he did a great deal to damage British newspapers."

While explaining that the former CNN host replaces real news with "fluff," Davies called Morgan "Mr. Trivial," adding, "[Morgan] continued the process of tabloid newspapers drifting further and further downmarket, just getting sillier and sillier and pushing real news off the pages and substituting show biz. He’s a show biz guy in his origin."
