On Wednesday, some of the biggest names in music industry came together at the Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America, a benefit concert to raise money for United Way fund and awareness for the racial inequality in America.
Several celebrities performed to raise their voices for a cause, including Pharrell, John Legend, Sia, Bruce Springsteen and others. But one of the highlights of the night came from fierce female rapper Nicki Minaj. During the event Minaj recited Maya Angelou's inspirational poem "Still I Rise."
The poem touches on the themes of racism, misogyny and triumph over adversity -- all of which resonate with Minaj's commitment to calling out sexism and racial discrimination in the music industry.
Minaj delivers Angelou's powerful words with her signature swagger. "Does my sexiness upset you? Does it come as a surprise, that I dance like I've got diamonds at the meeting of my thighs," she asks to which the audience replied with thunderous applause. Watch below:

The benefit concert, Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America, airs on November 20 on A&E, and will be simulcast on AOL.
