Nielsen and GLAAD's Growing Relationship

Nielsen remains committed to being a diverse and inclusive company. As such, it makes benefiting the community one of its core values. Associates at Nielsen mobilize data and use expertise to address some of the world's greatest social challenges. They do this through the company's corporate social responsibility program, Nielsen Cares. Because of Nielsen's commitment, the company began sponsoring the GLAAD Media Awards and GLAAD fundraising events in 2008. In addition, in 2010, Nielsen donated data to further GLAAD's mission.

Today, GLAAD contributes to the Harris Poll and uses the results to plan its programs and to publish its annual Accelerating Acceptance reports. The Harris Poll team and members of Nielsen's LGBT employee resource group were assigned to develop questions and to analyze and interpret the data for GLAAD. The data showed signs of public complacency and the need for continued vigilance among LGBT advocacy groups. Harris Interactive, which joined Nielsen in early 2014, is a leader in LGBT market research and has a strategic relationship with Bob Witeck who has offered his time to the project.

This past Pre-Grammy ceremony hosted by Nielsen highlighted its relationship and ongoing initiatives with GLAAD in support of the LGBT community. Zeke Stokes, GLAAD's VP of Programs, received a generous donation for GLAAD on behalf of the attendees.

Nielsen intends to continue its long-standing role to provide GLAAD data support as well as explore international opportunities with GLAAD. Nielsen is also a Gold Partner of the current GLAAD Media Awards.
