'Nightline' Airs Its Final Show In Original Time Slot Before ABC's Late Night Shake-Up

Major Change Hits ABC's Late Night

ABC's late night news program "Nightline" will air its final program in its original time slot on Monday.

The network announced that it would be altering its late night programming schedule, moving Jimmy Kimmel's talk show to 11:35 p.m. to compete with CBS' David Letterman and NBC's Jay Leno. "Nightline" was bumped to Kimmel's early morning time—12:35 a.m.

After Monday night, viewers will have to wait till early Wednesday morning to watch the news program. "Nightline" will debut in its new time on Wednesday, January 9. As previously reported, "Nightline" will add one prime time hour on Fridays at 9:00 p.m. The additional hour will launch in March.

"Nightline" consistently beat David Letterman and Jay Leno's respective programs in the ratings—bringing in more total viewers and winning the coveted A25-54 demographic for the network.
