Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) made a prediction in January that sounds pretty ominous for Donald Trump’s election hopes now that President Joe Biden has pulled out of the 2024 race.
“The first party to retire its 80-year-old candidate is going to be the party that wins this election,” Haley said six months ago.
Biden, 81, has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, 59, who is more than two decades younger than him and nearly 20 years younger than Trump, 78.
Haley was running against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination when she made her remarks. She was briefly a fierce critic of the former president, calling him “unhinged” and “not qualified.”
Haley continued to draw a sizable protest vote even after leaving the race.
She has since given Trump, now the 2024 Republican nominee, her “strong endorsement.”
