Newark Mayor Cory Booker (D) is the next U.S. Senator from New Jersey.

Booker defeated businessman and former mayor Steve Lonegan (R) in a special primary election that took place Wednesday. Booker and Lonegan faced off to nab the seat of the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D), who passed away in June.
