Gwen Stefani had no doubts when it came to slowing down her solo career to raise her two sons, Kingston, 6, and Zuma, 3. But with the No Doubt reunion in full-swing -- and the band's forthcoming studio album on the way -- will Stefani ever return to her solo days?
“No, I don’t think so," Stefani told The UK's Daily Record. "I was always thinking of that as a moment in time and you can never say never. But these last couple of years have been overwhelming for me, with having so much going on, and my husband being on tour, and just trying to do it all, which is not possible."
Stefani's last solo effort, 2006's The Sweet Escape, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and has since sold over one million albums in the United States. Stefani originally intended to reunite with No Doubt after her 2004 solo debut, Love. Angel. Music. Baby., but she decided to record a second album as a way to release some of the material left over material.
However, now that Stefani has reunited with her No Doubt bandmates -- Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal and Adrian Young -- to release their first album in over a decade, she's closing that chapter in her career. After all, the singer revealed that finding the time to cut new tracks was hard enough.
"We were only able to get together three days a week and, because I had the kids, there was only a limited amount of time," Stefani told the Daily Record. "I was exhausted by the time I got there, so it was a struggle trying to weigh and balance everything out with the kids. But it was that fight that made the record so great."
Now, with the support of her fellow bandmates -- who have kids of their own -- Stefani is ready for the challenge. “We’ll have to learn from Angelina and Brad," she joked.
