No Feeling Is Final

The thing about the beauty and the terror is that if we feel it, we can survive it. It's when we try to ignore it or bury it that it buries us.

I just saw a quote that gave me shivers. Rainer Maria Rilke said, "Let everything happen to you. Beauty and terror. Just keep going. No feeling is final."

No feeling is final.

There are people undergoing nauseating chemotherapy right now. There are people with newborn babies who think they'll never sleep through the night again. There are people who are celebrating a promotion they have worked years to receive. There are people cashing their first paycheque. There are people signing bankruptcy paperwork. There are people going on the vacation of their dreams. There are people getting a divorce. There are people recovering from surgery. There are people preparing for a marathon. There are people winning and losing at the game of life in this particular moment. The thing is, each moment is different. You win some and you lose some. You also win when you lose and you often lose when you win.

No feeling is final.

So if we breathe and walk through it and hold on to that thought, we will make it to the other side.

The thing about the beauty and the terror is that if we feel it, we can survive it. It's when we try to ignore it or bury it that it buries us.

Embrace your day. No matter what it feels like. And never forget that no feeling is final.
