Musician Nomi Ruiz On What It's Like To Be Trans In The Music Industry

"There's always discrimination in every industry, especially the music industry. But at the end of the day, you can't deny talent."

Musician Nomi Ruiz, the lead singer and songwriter for the Brooklyn-based band Jessica 6, found music at a young age as a means of expressing herself, she told HuffPost Live on Thursday. But as a transgender woman, being in the music industry can be difficult because of a lack of trans representation.
