Nora Ephron, legendary writer and director, died at the age of 71 on Tuesday.
Like most, well, people on the planet Earth, we've always loved Ephron's films. (Who doesn't watch "Sleepless in Seattle" and "When Harry Met Sally" every time they're on TV?). She oversaw some key style moments: Meg Ryan's ridiculously influential shag, and Meryl Streep's transformation into Julia Child for "Julie & Julia."
New York City native Ephron was also style-conscious in that New York City way, opting for classic ensembles in shades of black and white once she ditched the plaid '80s blazers and humongous spectacles. Her 2006 book I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Reflections On Being A Woman was a New York Times best-seller; Ephron famously shielded her neck with black turtlenecks (her fave) and a menagerie of scarves. “If anyone young is reading this, go, right this minute, put on a bikini and don’t take it off until you’re 34,” she quips in the tome.
In 2010, Ephron made the Vanity Fair International Best-Dressed List, where she praised her Chanel turtleneck and her Stuart Weitzman boots.
