Norm Macdonald Looks Back On Being Fired From 'SNL'

The decision by NBC brass to fire Norm Macdonald from "Saturday Night Live" in 1998 after his hilariously dry five-year tenure on Weekend Update is still one of the more memorable behind-the-scenes stories of the series' history. It got more complicated a year and a half later, when Macdonald was asked back to host "SNL" in 1999. Macdonald made the most of the opportunity by making jokes at the show's expense in his monologue, which even caused the writers to audibly boo on air. Macdonald looked back on the entire experience -- and the defense he got from David Letterman -- with host Josh Zepps during a HuffPost Live conversation on Tuesday about joining the judges' panel on NBC's "Last Comic Standing."
