In September of this year, President-elect Donald Trump called for the full defunding of Planned Parenthood. Now, we're dealing with a potential reproductive rights crisis and the new administration hasn't even taken office yet. So ladies, get your IUD's now.
For many women, this could sound like we're going to normalize practises that govern and control what a woman can do with their own bodies. Luckily there are very easy things you can do to protect Women's rights.
Actor and writer Lianne O'Shea's new video "A Woman's Place" provides a handy guide for women who want to fight back. Lianne told Outspeak she "decided to make this video because after Trump was elected, as a woman, I felt utterly helpless. I wanted to do something to help all of the communities that could be affected by an extremely conservative agenda, and what better way to do so than support an organization that is already working to promote good."
When asked about the state of women's rights, she told us, "I think fighting for Women's Rights is important now more than ever because there still is a fight - it is 2016, we are still fighting for equality. Misogyny and discrimination are very real, and we need to fight until they are a thing of the past."
