NRA President Wayne LaPierre Accepts Gabby Giffords' Ice Bucket Challenge

National Rifle Association vice president and CEO Wayne LaPierre will dump a bucket of ice water over his head as well as contribute to Lou Gehrig's disease research, Business Insider reported on Thursday.

LaPierre, one of the staunchest supporters of gun rights, was challenged by former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-Ariz.) and her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, on Thursday. Giffords survived a gun shot to the head in 2011 and has since become a major gun control advocate, pushing for the expansion of gun background checks in 2013.

Giffords and her husband completed the ice bucket challenge on Thursday, after being challenged by Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla).

"We do hope one day we can agree upon more than just supporting ALS and Lou Gehrig's disease research. So thank you very much everybody," Kelly said in the video.
