I sat down with Tim Mattson director of the NYC Cannabis Film Festival. The NYC Cannabis Film Festival’s mission is to elevate cannabis culture by building a bridge between the film making community and a new class of leaders & entrepreneurs through a public film festival in NYC.

The New York City Cannabis Film Festival celebrates entertaining and educational films about cannabis in hopes to further transform, stimulate change, and share the expanding horizons of cannabis culture in the city of New York.

The festival showcases a variety of Feature & Short Narrative Films in various genres including documentary films and provides a venue for cannabis-related businesses and organizations to enlighten attendees with a day of film screenings.

Last year you had some great films including: “Tricky Bidness” by JoAnn Schuch about the marijuana in Humboldt County, California. “Summer of the Cans” by Tocha Alves, which was the story of a couple of summers when thousands of cans containing high-quality Thai marijuana rolled up onto the beaches of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. And then probably most notable was the film “Dark Harvest” by James Hutson, which is a crime story about a marijuana grower and his mentor’s, one of which was played by Cheech Marin. There were also a lot of great shorts too.
