'Obama Girl' Amber Lee Ettinger Releases New Video Urging The President To 'Step Up'

'Obama Girl' Says The President Better 'Step Up'

"Obama Girl" Amber Lee Ettinger is out with a new YouTube video toning down her "crush" for the president and putting pressure on him to convince voters that he deserves to be reelected.

The video, titled "Glease" -- a somewhat awkward blending of the song "You're the One That I Want" from the musical "Grease" with the bubblegum production style of the TV show "Glee" -- features Ettinger engaged in a teenybopper game of cat-and-mouse with YouTube's foremost President Obama impersonator, Alphacat.

"You better step up, cuz I need that man, if my old crush on you was true," Ettinger sings. "Cuz across the land all our hearts were bet on you."

The basic premise is that "Obama" wants Ettinger's vote, but he'll need to "bone up" to get it, or risk losing losing the election -- perhaps to a candidate that the video depicts as Rick "Frothy Shake Shack" Santorum.

The message is a far cry from Ettinger's 2007 viral hit that launched her career, but not surprising considering interviews she's given since suggesting that her affection for Obama is now more conditional on tangible results.

"I haven't really decided which way I'm going to go yet," she told Politico earlier this month about whom she'd vote for in the upcoming election. "I'm still keeping my eyes and ears open. I certainly don't dislike Obama. I think he's done a lot of really great stuff, but he doesn't get enough credit for the things he does. What he does is just never enough. For me, being Obama Girl, it's hard because I get people saying, 'switch to the other side! Make videos for Ron Paul! Why are you with Obama? He sucks!'"

The video was released this week on YouTube's new PoliPop channel.
