Obama Heckled During Speech To Israeli Students (VIDEO)

Heckler Interrupts Obama's Speech

A heckler interrupted President Barack Obama's speech in front of students in Jerusalem, Israel on Thursday.

"I wouldn't feel comfortable if I didn't have at least one heckler," Obama joked once the shouting ceased.

According to the White House pool report, a man to Obama’s left in the audience began shouting in Hebrew.

"A reliable Hebrew speaker seated near pool says the shouting was about [Jonathan Jay] Pollard," the pool report said. "We presume calling for his release."

Pollard is an American intelligence analyst who was convicted in 1987 of spying for Israel and has been serving a life sentence in North Carolina. Many former American officials have called for clemency due to Pollard's poor health and the fact that he has now been jailed for 28 years -- an unprecedented sentence for spying for an ally country.

In an interview with Israel's Channel 2 earlier this month, Obama said that he has "no plans for releasing Jonathan Pollard immediately."

"This is part of the lively debate that we talked about," Obama said regarding the heckler on Thursday.

Obama's Middle East trip has been eventful so far. When he got off the plane in Israel Wednesday, he was caught on camera quietly whispering how good it was to "get away from Congress." Obama met with both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas.

Obama will leave Israel for Jordan on Friday.
