President Barack Obama couldn't avoid questions about Hillary Clinton potentially running for president in 2016 during a recent interview on NBC's "Today" show.
Speaking with NBC's Savannah Guthrie in an interview recorded last week and aired Wednesday morning, Obama steered clear of assuming anything about Clinton's White House plans. But he also appeared happy to praise his former secretary of state, who departed the administration earlier this year.
"Do you miss her around here?" Guthrie asked.
"I do," Obama responded. "She's earned her rest and I know that she's going to be able -- whatever she does -- to continue to be a leader and an incredibly positive force for the causes I care about and that she cares about all around the world."
Clinton shattered travel records during her service as secretary of state. According to the State Department, she visited 112 countries, traversed 956,733 miles and spent a total of 401 total days on the road over four years.
She's maintained for a number of years that her secretary of state role would be her last in politics. That determination has apparently not changed since her retirement, but that hasn't done much to discourage her most loyal supporters. Earlier this year, a "Ready for Hillary" super PAC launched, with the goal of laying some campaign groundwork and encouraging the 2008 presidential candidate to run again in 2016.
