Obama Hosts White House Science Fair To Encourage STEM Education

On Monday, President Obama is hosting the first ever White House Science Fair, where the winners of various science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) competitions will showcase their winning projects.

The president is also slated to speak about the importance of education in these fields, a topic he has promoted since launching his Educate to Innovate campaign in 2009.

According to President Obama, encouraging education and innovation in STEM fields is vital to the ensuring a prosperous American economy in the future.

To bring his message of promoting science to a broader audience, the president will appear in a Dec. 8 episode of "Mythbusters" on the Discovery Channel.
