Obama Press Meet-And-Greet Interrupted By Actual Question

Obama's visit to the White House Press Corps yesterday was going according to plan, for about three minutes, until a Politico reporter suddenly did some journalism. From there, total buzzkill.

Yesterday, President Barack Obama decided to pay a visit to the White House Press Corps in their batcave where they gather under the warmth of flipcams and dream of carving up White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs for sustenance. The meet and greet -- which Obama held ostensibly to pay a friendly visit, learn the names of various reporters, and field questions about basketball -- was going according to plan, for about three minutes. That's when the Politico's Jonathan Martin suddenly did some journalism, ensuring that the President would learn at least one reporter's name.

From there, total buzzkill! An "irritated" (as some observers interpret) Obama said, "I came down here to visit. See this is what happens. I can't end up visiting with you guys and shaking hands if I'm going to get grilled every time I come down here."

Still, props to Martin, because as questions go, "How do you reconcile Bill Lynn?" is an exceedingly fine one!

Anyway, here's video. The "let's whip 'em out and heft them for weight" moment comes about three and a half minutes in.
