Obama To Appear On 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon'

President Barack Obama will appear as a guest on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" next Tuesday, NBC announced Friday morning. The president will be a guest during a week of shows recorded live at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer tweeted that Obama plans to discuss higher education affordability.

Obama made history in 2009 when he became the first sitting president to appear on a late night chat show, as a guest on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." Since then, he has made appearances on several other shows, including "Late Show with David Letterman," "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report." First Lady Michelle Obama appeared on "Colbert" earlier this month.

Dave Matthews will appear as the musical guest on the episode. Fallon's house band The Roots are outspoken supporters of the President, so it's likely that Obama's walk-on music will be a bit more reverent than Michele Bachmann's.

Obama's propensity for comedy recently came up on Fallon's show in an interview with Aziz Ansari. The comedian described meeting Obama backstage at a fundraiser, and being shocked by the President's jocular attitude.
