Obama Meets With Ebola Survivor Nina Pham At White House

President Barack Obama met with Dallas nurse Nina Pham on Friday afternoon in the Oval Office, the White House announced.

The National Institutes of Health announced Friday morning that Pham no longer tested positive for Ebola. Officials were making plans to discharge her from the Bethesda, Maryland, facility where she had been receiving care for the past week. Pham contracted the deadly virus while caring for Thomas Eric Duncan, a Liberian who became the first Ebola patient diagnosed within the U.S., at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas.

"I feel fortunate and blessed to be standing here today," Pham told reporters on Friday. "I know that it may be awhile before I have my strength back so with gratitude and respect ... I ask for my privacy and my family's privacy."
