WASHINGTON -- The Obama campaign is hosting the National Women’s Issues Conference on April 27-28 in Washington, D.C., featuring remarks by President Barack Obama.
The conference agenda includes policy panels such as "I Am Not a Preexisting Condition: Women's Health and What's at Stake" and "American Women, American Values & 2012 Election: The Vital Role of Women in this Election."
There are also training sessions on social media, turning out women voters and on "talking about the president's accomplishments."
The tentative agenda says Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) and other members of Congress are expected to attend.
The event is being held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, in conjunction with the Women’s Leadership Forum. Tickets range from $250 for individuals under 35 or over 65, up to $75,800 for conference chairs.
On Friday, the White House Council on Women and Girls is also hosting a forum on women and the economy.
The Obama campaign launched its Women for Obama effort in November, with first lady Michelle Obama serving as an honorary chair. It's an arm of the campaign's "Operation Vote," an effort aimed at engaging and mobilizing voting constituencies that helped Obama win in 2008, such as college students, women and African Americans.
