Obama's Jan. 11 Chicago Visit Includes Fundraising Dinners, Janelle Monae Concert

Obama To Court Young Voters With Janelle Monae Concert

In addition to two high-end dinners, President Obama's trip back to Chicago on Jan.11 will also include a fundraising concert that will likely attract younger voters.

Actor Hill Harper and R&B singer Janelle Monae have signed on to headline the Wednesday night concert at the University of Illinois-Chicago, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Tickets are priced from $44--possibly a nod to the "Gen 44" campaign team that organized the event--up to $1,000 for VIP access.

That same evening, media mogul Fred Eychaner is hosting a $38,500-per-couple private dinner for the President at his North Side home, NBC Chicago reports. A private reception is also scheduled at the Hyde Park home of Evonne and Stuart Taylor that evening, with ticket prices ranging between $7,000 and $20,000.

The Obamas' most recent Chicago appearance was First Lady Michelle Obama's fundraising visit in late October, the Chicago Tribune reports. She spoke at a Plumbers Hall event where tickets that included a photo with the first lady ran up to $10,000. Billionaire Warren Buffet hosted a dinner on the president's behalf that same week.
