Occupy LA: Weekend 2 Shows Numbers Growing (PHOTOS)

Weekend Warriors: Occupy LA Doubling In Numbers (PHOTOS)

Los Angeles expected the Occupy LA movement to continue to grow through the weekend – and that it has. Hundreds more have gone to join protestors, activists, and generally passionate citizens in Downtown Los Angeles where Occupy LA has made a home at City Hall. Fox LA reports that both a music festival and a cycling event would take place this weekend. They also add:

Seven of the 15 Los Angeles City Council members signed a resolution to support "peaceful and vibrant exercise in First Amendment Rights carried out by 'Occupy Los Angeles.’” A Los Angeles city resolution calls for a vote on a "responsible banking" measure by Oct. 28. It would require the city to divest from banks and financial institutions that have not cooperated with efforts to prevent foreclosures.

The mood is one determination but also of love at Occupy LA this weekend. Anytime someone has ascended the City Hall steps to speak, one of the first things the crowd shouts is “We love you!” Police activity is minimal – and arrests are practically nonexistent compared to Occupy Wall Street in New York City. KTLA did report, however, that ten people were arrested in Los Angeles for trying to cash a $673 billion check made out to The “people of California.”
