Occupy May Day Rally: Das Racist, Immortal Technique, Tom Morello, Dan Deacon To Perform In Union Square (VIDEOS)

Morello, Das Racist, Dan Deacon To Perform At Occupy May Day Rally

The music lineup has been released for Occupy Wall Street's big May Day protest and General Strike on May 1st in New York City. True, there's no Radiohead (but no Third Eye Blind, either), but an impressive lineup nonetheless.

According to Pitchfork, "Das Racist, Dan Deacon, Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello (a.k.a. The Nightwatchman), Immortal Technique, and Bobby Sanabria will perform during a rally in New York's Union Square, beginning at 4:00 p.m. More performers will be announced."

Apparently the protesters have the proper permits and everything, so hopefully it won't turn into another NYPD arrest fest. Also, it's on an amplified stage which will likely mean less human microphone.

Additionally, Morello will lead an Occupy "guitarmy" of "thousands of guitarists, string players, noisemakers, and singers" in a "march for social justice and in solidarity with this Occupy movement." Musicians can meet Morello at noon in Bryant Park for a rehearsal of "We Shall Not Be Moved," Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land", Sergio Ortega's "El Pueblo Unido", Willie Nile's "One Guitar", and the Nightwatchman's "World Wide Rebel Song." According to the press release, "New York-area guitarists and string players from complete beginner to master shredder, from bedroom artist to legend" are welcome to attend.
