Olivia Nicole Pryor, Michigan State University Student, Discovered Dead On Campus

18-year-old College Student Found Dead On Campus

Police at Michigan State University are trying to find out what caused the death of an 18-year-old student on the East Lansing campus earlier this week.

University police found the body of Olivia Nicole Pryor around 10 a.m. Monday at South Hubbard Hall, a dormitory, after receiving a call from student who said she found her roommate unresponsive.

Pryor was studying journalism at the university, according to WWJ. Her family lives in Roseville.

She attended high school at Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Detroit, where she graduated in 2011 summa cum laude, WXYZ reports.

MSU freshman Kelsi Smith, a close friend of Pryor, described her as funny and upbeat.

"She always got along with everybody," Smith told the State News "She was always trying to make people laugh."

Although police believe Pryor's death was alcohol-related, they are waiting for the results of an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The journalism student's passing marks the third death on MSU's campus in recent weeks. Student Carly Glenn, 19, died of meningococcal disease on Feb. 10, and residence hall director Corey Malloch, 34, was discovered dead on March 3 , though the cause of his death has not yet been determined, WWJ reports.
