Olympic Ring Malfunction Shows Even Opening Ceremony Has #SochiProblems (PHOTO)

Of Course, The Opening Ceremony Has A #SochiProblem

Perhaps predictably, the opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics had its own #SochiProblems.

Early in the ceremony at Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi on Friday, an apparent lighting malfunction resulted in a missing Olympic ring. Instead of there being five interlocking rings of light displayed, the world saw four rings and an interloping snowflake.

Moments earlier, a set of five snowflakes could be seen "falling" through the sky inside Fisht Stadium.

Those five snowflakes gracefully moved into a formation reminiscent of the positions of the iconic Olympic rings.

Once in position, the snowflakes were seemingly supposed to begin expanding.

Four of the snowflakes expanded. One remained a snowflake.
